Virus discovery in humans and animals using the new virus discovery method VIDISCA-454: AMC and MSD Animal Health
At the Academic Medical Center Amsterdam (AMC), Lia van der Hoek is as associate professor responsible for the Virus Discovery group at the Laboratory of Experimental Virology. Coming from a background in medical microbiology and experimental virology, Van der Hoek has specialized in the discovery of viruses. This has resulted in the development of the new virus discovery method VIDISCA-454 which makes it possible to swiftly detect any (new) RNA or DNA virus.
Reducing the need for antibiotics by jointly developing new feed additives: TNO and Greenvalley International
joint interest in lowering the need for antibiotics led to a collaboration between Immuno Valley partners Greenvalley International and TNO. Participation in Immuno Valley’s AtoB Day in 2014 connected Henk van Faassen and TNO to jointly work on a project to look for new feed additives for chickens and pigs, that could reduce the use of antibiotics.
